Chef & Catering Services

  • Claire’s Kitchen
For more traditional food and service, Claire serves delicious food which is often produced on her own farm a few miles up the road. Her Muscovy duck with red wine and sour cherry was recently enjoyed so much that the diners at The Moult applauded the chef at the end of the meal.

  • The Galley Girls
Gemma and Polly are happy to cater and serve a dinner party or an evening of cocktails and canapés. Recently they produced a sumptuous beef Wellington served with potato dauphinoise and their lemon posset is tangy and wonderful. Equally they too are more than happy to drop off homemade dishes such as lasagne for guests to warm up themselves so that the entire stay isn’t cooking in the kitchen.

  • Dartmouth Fine Foods
Here are sophisticated bespoke caterers who will design each event for you. Serin Aubrey will take over the kitchen and prepare mouthwatering feasts with highlights including Devon lamb and local line-caught sea bass. His tarte tatin should win awards! Over the summer, Serin also delivered chicken and vegetable tagines and a series of Moroccan side dishes for the guests to warm up themselves and guests in 2015 raved about the moussaka that Dartmouth Fine Foods dropped off for them.

  • Wild Artichokes
This is a newer duo who ‘pop up’ at special local events and do private catering in great style. Jane and Sam are incredibly experienced having worked at The River Café and Riverford Organic Field Kitchen and their food has a strong southern Italian accent. Thank goodness the dining table is huge as when they recently prepared a dinner at The Moult the generous dishes kept coming. Their truffle arancini melt in the mouth as do the crab and chilli bruschetta. Their fish bourride with aioli, rouille and croutons, is certainly a dish which should stay in the memory for many years. Wild Artichokes’ desserts are sublime, there are no words to describe their amazing baked custard with blackcurrents and hot raspberry clafoutis!

Dartmouth

  • Dartmouth is similar to Salcombe in its relaxed and affluent atmosphere. The town is fast becoming a very fashionable holiday destination, with lots of boutique shops and quality eateries having popped up in the last few years. However glamorous Dartmouth is becoming, though, the fishing industry still beats on here, and you can sit idly by watching the boats come in and deliver fresh fish to the restaurants lining the water’s edge. Culinary highlights include Seahorse (Tel: 01803 835147) and Rockfish (Tel: 01803 832800). To burn off your fish lunch, be sure to walk up to the gigantic Britannia Naval College, a stunning building which overlooks the town.
  • Dartmouth Castle
Beautiful 15th century castle nestled in the cliffs around Dartmouth, complete with a huge gun tower and some labyrinthine passages. You can get to Dartmouth Castle via a small ferry which sets sail from the town quay.
    Castle Rd, Dartmouth TQ6 0JN
  • __________

Totnes

  • Totnes prides itself on being different. Since 2006, the town has made every effort to wean itself from a dependence of peak oil. As a result, it has its own local currency – the ‘Totnes Pound’ – and makes every attempt at creating a strong localised community. There are lots of lovely shops here, and almost all are independent; you will find antique books, bespoke furniture, fine art, handmade shoes and market goods. Eateries are excellent, too, with Riverford Field Kitchen (Tel: 01803 762074) coming up trumps.
